Tennis and Golfer’s Elbow

Symptoms

At Browns Physiotherapy And Wellness, we understand the nagging frustration that comes with tennis and golfer’s elbow. Whether it’s a never ending dull ache, a sharp pain when you lift the milk out of the fridge, or weakness in your forearm, we’re here to provide relief. Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, and golfer’s elbow, or medial epicondylitis, are both overuse injuries that can result from repetitive movements using the muscles and tendons of the elbow.

Tennis elbow and Golfer’s elbow are typically caused by repetitive strain on the muscles and tendons of the forearm, particularly those that attach to the inside and outside bones of the elbow, respectively. Activities that involve gripping, twisting, or lifting can lead to small tears in the tendons, resulting in pain and inflammation. In addition to sports-related activities like tennis or golf, these conditions can also occur as a result of repetitive tasks at work or hobbies that involve repetitive arm movements.

At Browns Physiotherapy And Wellness, we’re committed to identifying the underlying cause of your elbow pain and addressing any contributing factors. By understanding the root of your discomfort, we can develop a targeted treatment plan to alleviate your symptoms and prevent future recurrences.

Our approach to treating tennis and golfer’s elbow includes a variety of techniques aimed at reducing pain, inflammation, and restoring function to the affected arm.

First, we provide hands-on therapy to alleviate muscle tension, improve joint mobility, and reduce pain. This may include techniques such as manual therapy, soft tissue massage, or joint mobilisation to target specific areas of tightness and discomfort. In addition to traditional therapy methods, we also offer shockwave therapy as a treatment option for tennis and golfer’s elbow. Shockwave therapy uses high-energy sound waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing response, promoting tissue regeneration and reducing pain and inflammation.

Next, we focus on strengthening and stretching exercises to improve muscle balance and flexibility in the forearm and elbow. These exercises are designed to promote healing, reduce the risk of future injury, and enhance your overall arm function.

At Browns Physiotherapy And Wellness, we’re dedicated to helping you overcome tennisand golfer’s elbow and get back to doing the activities you love. Don’t let elbow pain hold you back – let’s work together to restore your comfort and mobility.

I have tried many Physios over the years, but Jennifer has been amazing. She helped to find the cause of my back problem and release a lot of the tension. I wasn’t able to do normal activities without it feeling painful, but this all has changed. I am genuinely from heart so thankful to Jennifer and Donal!

I would like to thank Natalie and Trish for their amazing support in getting me back on my feet . I came in with a muscular strain behind my right knee and similar symptoms behind my left knee. Natalie supported me over the sessions to reduce the inflammation and pain and then took me through a strengthening programme. My sessions with both Natalie and Trish have built my knee strength and confidence. Thank you for an excellent sensitive and professional service

Browns physiotherapy team offered an amazing service was always polite and clear in helping me going back to the gym. I had a discovery session to find out about my injury which was bicep tendinitis and had shockwave therapy on it to treat it which was superb. I also did some strengthening exercise and slowly eased back in the gym being directed on what to focus on in the gym and what not to making sure I would prevent it to flare up again.I’ve now finished my treatment and I’m back in the gym thanks to Donal,Natalie and Jennifer brilliant help .

I was fortunate to discover Browns Physiotherapy whilst browsing and delighted to get a prompt appointment as I was suffering badly with my neck and shoulders. The pain was alleviated immediately after the first appointment, although obviously there was some residual aching afterwards. I had two weekly sessions, then increased the interval to two weeks and now I am enjoying a regular monthly visit, which keeps the neck and shoulder problem under control. I would recommend Browns to anyone who is suffering - Donal is the best practitioner I have been lucky enough to find ... and I have tried several others, including chiropractors, over the years, never with such good results. The sessions are physically and mentally beneficial as well as enjoyable. Thank you, Donal. I am really grateful. Adele Wilbraham.
