Plantar Fasciitis

Symptoms

At Browns Physiotherapy And Wellness, we understand the pain and discomfort that accompanies plantar fasciitis. Whether it’s a sharp pain in your heel first thing in the morning, stiffness in your foot, or difficulty walking, we’re here to provide relief. Plantar fasciitis is a common condition caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot. It often presents as pain in the heel or arch, particularly with the first steps in the morning or after prolonged periods of rest.

Plantar fasciitis can result from a variety of factors, including overuse, biomechanical issues, or improper footwear. Excessive standing, walking, running, or wearing unsupportive shoes can increase your risk of developing plantar fasciitis. Additionally, underlying conditions such as flat feet, high arches, or tight calf muscles can contribute to the development of this condition. It normally affects people aged 40+ but we do also see this condition in younger people.

At Browns Physiotherapy And Wellness, we’re committed to identifying the underlying cause of your plantar fasciitis and addressing any contributing factors. By understanding the root of your discomfort, we can develop a targeted treatment plan to alleviate your symptoms and prevent future recurrences.

Our approach to treating plantar fasciitis includes a variety of techniques aimed at reducing pain, inflammation, and restoring function to the affected foot.

First, we provide hands-on therapy to alleviate muscle tension, improve joint mobility, and reduce pain. This may include techniques such as manual therapy, soft tissue massage, or joint mobilization to target specific areas of tightness and discomfort.

In addition to traditional therapy methods, we also offer shockwave therapy as a treatment option for plantar fasciitis. Shockwave therapy uses high-energy sound waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing response, promoting tissue regeneration and

reducing pain and inflammation. It is recommended by NICE guidelines and we have clients traveling long distances for this treatment.

Furthermore, we may recommend custom made insoles to provide additional support and cushioning for your feet. These custom-made orthotic devices can help alleviate pressure on the plantar fascia and improve foot mechanics, reducing strain and discomfort. We use the industry leading Phits insoles and use a top of the range scanner to build the perfect orthotic devices for your feet.

At Browns Physiotherapy And Wellness, we’re dedicated to helping you overcome plantar fasciitis and get back on your feet. Don’t let foot pain hold you back – let’s work together to restore your comfort and mobility.
